16th century interiors
Indoor heated pool (9am - 5pm)
Surrey Cottage is a Grade I listed building which sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the Surrey Hills, just 35 minutes from Central London. This area is renowned for the finer things in life and, historically, was a playground for the rich and famous. It is no surprise then that the manor has been developed over the last ten centuries with ultimate pleasure and luxury in mind.
Arriving at the Manor is like a walk through history; the property’s gardens feature a moat, a pond and a lake and the opulent interiors boast exquisite arts and crafts which highlights the obvious care that has been taken to preserve the history and traditions of the place.
Linger in the spectacular dining room, panelled with timber taken from ships of the Spanish Armada and beautiful leaded windowpanes engraved with the signatures of previous guests, such as King George V and Queen Mary.
The drawing room transports you to the 1930’s and looks onto the latest addition to the house; the award winning breakfast room built completely from glass, which allows guests to enjoy the secluded courtyard, whatever the weather.
The five bedrooms are light and airy with unique features, such as a historically-listed bathroom and the actual beds used in the Beatrix Potter film. More unique features can be found throughout the property, such as the ground floor oriental room with its beautiful and dramatic circular Moon window.
Whether you’re taking a step back in time or experiencing the individuality of the property’s features, guests can be reassured that all modern comforts are also at their disposal; from the large HD flat screen, DVD system and WiFi access to the fully equipped kitchen, comfort is a top priority at Surrey Cottage.
It is, therefore, not hard to imagine that Surrey Cottage is an ideal location for film crews and corporate events. Our dedicated staff are always on hand to welcome you and provide you with services to best suit your needs; guests can choose from a range of our tailor-made catering options or prefer to choose a fully self-catered experience.
Perfectly located for discovering some of the UK’s finest arts and crafts heritage and stunning countryside, you will also be able to treat yourself and your guests to the delights of polo at Windsor or Cowdrey Arms Park, horseracing at Sandown, Epsom or Ascot, scenic boat trips on the river Wey as well as various estate activities. There is even the option to hire a vintage car to take you to your location in style.
Close by are many National Trust treasures, including the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre where West End productions are previewed. You may also wish to visit the lovely market town of Guilford or take a day out to visit the sights of London. Children also love the family-friendly Surrey Cottage and will be delighted with Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures, both of which are within easy reach.
A tranquil sophisticated escape for all occasions, Surrey Cottage allows guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful historic settings without compromising on modern comforts; a property that would definitely surpass expectations.
